China signs participation contract for Expo 2020 Dubai

The signing ceremony of the contract for China’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai was held on May 8 at the Expo Park in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which symbolizes the preparatory work for China's participation in the Expo 2020 Dubai was carried out in an all-round way.  

Zhang Wei, general government representative of China Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai and Vice President of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and Najeeb Al-Ali, executive director of Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, signed the exhibition contract on behalf of both China and UAE. And Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, and Ni Jian, the Chinese ambassador to the UAE, attended the signing ceremony.

Before the ceremony, Reem Al Hashimy met with the Chinese delegation and gave positive comments on China's participation. She expressed her gratitude for Chinese government’s support to the Expo 2020 Dubai, and proposed that China's participation reflected the high level of strategic partnership between China and UAE. She said that China is now the leader in scientific and technological innovation in the world and UAE eagerly hopes that China can take Expo 2020 Dubai as a platform to demonstrate the most advanced technology and innovation achievements.

In the interview with Xinhua News Agency, Zhang Wei said that the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) has organized the China pavilion 15 times on behalf of the China since first participation in the first World Expo in 1982. China has confirmed participation in the Expo 2020 Dubai with a giant self-built pavilion of 4636 square meters. The theme of China Pavilion is"Build a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind--Innovation & Opportunity."

Expo 2020 Dubai, the first World Expo held in the Middle East, covers an area of about 438 hectares and is expected to receive 25 million visitors, with the theme of"Connecting Minds, Creating the Future." At present, more than 170 countries have confirmed their participation.
