TheFirst World Expo Forum for Development and International Cooperation with the theme of“Innovation,Cooperation,Development-World Expotowards Future” was held in Shanghaifrom December 13 to 14. The forum wassponsored by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade(CCPIT), the People's GovernmentofShanghai Municipalityandthe Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), and hosted by China International Chamber of Commerce and the World Expo Museum.

In recent years, with the in-depth development of new technologicalrevolution and industrial revolution, the World Expo is becoming increasingly influential and attractive. After the success of the Expo2017Astana, Kazakhstan, the baton to host the World Expo 2025 will be passed on to Japan’s Osaka which has stood out after several rounds of competition. The Expo has entered a new era of vigorous development. TheFirst World ExpoForum forDevelopmentandInternational Cooperationhasexplored the development trend of the World Expo in depth, analyzedits promotion tothe public diplomacy and trade and investment, and provided new ideas and suggestions for China to comprehensively strengthen international cooperation and actively promote the construction of a new patternof all-round opening up.

Focusing on hot topics such as"World ExpowithInternational Cooperation,""World ExpowithCity and Design,""World ExpowithEconomy and Innovation,""World ExpowithCulture," the guestspresentbelieved that the World Expohas played an important role in carryingpublic diplomacy, buildinga communitywith a shared future for mankind, promotingurban development,making sci-tech innovations,and boostingcreative design, national development, cultural exchanges andcloser people-to-people ties. We must make full use of the platform tostrengthenopenness andcooperation, lead innovative development,improvetrade and investment,andpromote culturalmutual learning, so as toconstantly create a new futureofwin-win cooperation formankind.

TheRoadShow (Beijing)onChina’s Participation inExpo2020 Dubai was held during the forum. At the same time,CCPIT announcedthat China will participate in Expo 2020 Dubaiwithagiantpavilion. The 4,636-square-meter plot has been selected and is located in the sub-theme area of“Opportunity.”

In addition, the Promotion Conferencefor2019 BeijingInternational Horticultural Exhibition,theOpening CeremonyofExpo2017Astana KazakhstanReview,Seminar onthe Expo Design,conferences onprovincial and municipal participation in the Expo and the World Expo Museum CouncilMeetingwereheld concurrently.
