Design of China Pavilion for Expo 2020 unveiled

The design of China Pavilion for Expo 2020 was unveiled by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) on April 2, 2019. Feng Yaoxiang, secretary general of the China Pavilion’sorganizing committee and head of the trade and investment promotion department of CCPIT, said that the pavilion will focus on the theme of"Building a community with a shared future for humanity--Innovation and Opportunity". Covering an area of 4,636 square meters, the China Pavilion will be one of the largest pavilions at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The China Pavilion is named"The Light of China", which means hope and a bright future. Its style is a combination ofChinese and Western elements, highlighting Chinese elements. The design of the China Pavilion also combinestraditional Chinese culture with modern technologies to highlight confidence in the Chinese culture and the country’s image as a big country. The China Pavilion is a lantern-shaped architecture with modern architectural elements. Lanterns represent a bright future, reunion, auspiciousness and happiness, and the lantern-shaped architecture symbolizes that all countries around the world willcome together and communicate at theExpo 2020 Dubai to pursue prosperity and development, so as to jointly build a community with a shared future for humanityas well as a big happy family.The China Pavilion, like a beacon, willilluminatea bright future full of opportunities.

The pavilion will showChina’s achievements in fields of science and technology as well asinformation and communication. BeiDou satellites, high-speed trains, intelligent connected vehicles, Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST),5Gand artificial intelligence(AI) technologies will debut at the China Pavilion.

The 2020 Expo will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021. With the theme of"Connecting Minds, Creating the Future", the expo aims to gather the strength of the international community and promote global cooperation to create a better future. 2020 ExpoDubai will be the first World Expo held in the Middle East. It covers an area of 438 hectares and is expected to receive 25 million visitors. So far, more than 190 countries have confirmed their participation.
