Progress made in preparations for China Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai

Preparations for the China Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai has been carried out smoothly and phased progress has been made, according to a roadshow held on July 30 at the International Horticultural Exhibition in Beijing.

The architectural design and main theme of the China Pavilion have been confirmed. Feng Yaoxiang, secretary general of the China Pavilion’s organizing committee at the Expo 2020 Dubai andhead of the trade and investment promotion department at China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT),said that the Pavilion is named“Light of China”, with designs drawing inspiration from the Chinese lantern, symbolizing hope and a bright future. The combination of traditional elements and modern architectural ideas with modern technology highlights the confidence of Chinese culture.

Themed on“Buildinga Community with a Shared Future for Mankind--Innovation & Opportunity”, the China Pavilionwill focus on displaying China's scientific and technological achievements in information and transportation. The country’s latest developments in Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST), BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, 5G technology, and artificial intelligence will be displayed as the core exhibitions in the China Pavilion."Smart traffic" will also be highlighted, with high-speed railway simulated driving and intelligent united network vehicle making their debut at the expo.

A panda exhibition and other related events will also be held at the China Pavilion to showcaseChina's unique panda culture and achievements inthe protection and research of giant pandas.

The scheduled China Pavilion Day at the expo will feature official ceremonies, cultural performances as well as economic and trade forums. Apart from the national pavilion day celebrations, China will also host various cultural events, intangible cultural heritage displays as well as youth exchange activities.

With the theme of“Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,”Expo2020 Dubaiwillrunfrom October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021, and isexpected to receive 25 million visitors. More than 190nationsand international organizationshaveconfirmedtheirparticipationin the expo.
