The International Horticultural Exposition 2011 Xi’an, China was held in Chan-Ba Ecological District, Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province from April 28 to October 22. The 178-day event featured a total of 109 outdoor exhibition parks, attracting 12 million visitors.

The theme of the Expo was"eternal peace & harmony between nature & mankind, nurturing the future earth - a city for nature, co-existing in peace". The emblem and mascot of the Exposition was"Chang’an Flower", alluding to a famous Tang poem which reads"Proudly I ride a galloping steed, feasting my eyes on Chang’an flowers at a fleeting speed". The main concept of the Expo was"green leads the trend", advocating"loving of simplicity; striving for a low carbon lifestyle; embracing the nature; and making green lifestyle our fashion pursuit". The expo’s promotion ambassadors were Yan Ni, a star from Xi'an and Li Meng, a girl from Xi'an.

The Expo covered a total area of 418 hectares, including 188 hectares of water areas, with Chang’an Tower, Theme Pavilion, Greenhouse, and the Guangyun Entrance serving as landmarks. The five major horticultural scenic spots included Chang’an Flower Valley, Colorful Plants from Qinling Mountains, Flowers along the Silk Road, Overseas Collections and Flower Rainbow over the Ba River. The three characteristic zones referred to Romance by the Ba River, Southeast Asian Street and European Avenue. At the same time, exquisite works of arts, sculptures, rare animals from home and abroad were also displayed, offering the public an opportunity to fully appreciate the beauty of gardens, horticulture, architecture and arts.
