The China Pavilion, named the"Light of China," displays Chinese culture powered by technologies during the Expo 2020 Dubai that kicked off on Oct. 1.

Upon entering the pavilion, visitors are welcomed by a copy of the painting“A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains”by Wang Ximeng, a painter in the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). This painting is a masterpiece of landscape painting, where human and nature coexist in harmony, which not only embodies the traditional idea of"harmony between man and nature," but also reflects the philosophy of green development.

The Space Corridor is a painting exhibition area featuring 144 works themed"the universe through the eyes of teenagers," including paintings of the goddess Chang'e flying to the moon, and black-awning boats carrying pandas. The young painters express their understanding of the universe with infinite imagination, and bring traditional Chinese culture to the visitors through paintings full of childlike innocence.

On a wall at the pavilion, well-known Chinese poems are written in calligraphy styles. Visitors would read poem lines like"Distance cannot separate true friends, who feel so close even thousands of miles apart,” and“The roc will hover highly with wind, and thousands of kilometers will be slid.”Not only the Chinese tourists obtain a sense of cordiality, many foreigners are also excited to take photos against the beautiful Chinese character wall.

An Egyptian tourist said the Chinese characters were so beautiful and that he liked Chinese culture and other elements very much.

Through this platform, people can follow a system to learn simple Chinese phrases and sentences.

A Pakistani tourist said he was impressed with the software for learning Chinese. He believed that Chinese would become a language spoken worldwide.

The pavilion also showcases Chinese mortise and tenon joint technology. This technology not only constitutes a means of connecting components, but also exemplifies the unique and exquisite creating philosophy and wisdom of the Chinese nation.

This is the first time in the history of the World Expo that intangible heritage of classical Chinese furniture is exhibited in a national pavilion. Named"Four gentlemen""Wind through pine forests" and among others, the furniture was crafted through traditional mortise and tenon structures.

However, it’s the"Light of China" pavilion itself that is the most representative of Chinese characteristics. It takes the shape of traditional red lanterns, symbolizing auspiciousness and happiness.

Zhang Shenfeng, commissioner general of the China Pavilion and vice chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said that the China Pavilion looks like a luxurious lantern from a distance, implying that countries worldwide will get together and communicate with one another through the platform of the Expo to pursue common prosperity and a bright future.
