WeChat mini-program allows visiting China Pavilion remotely

  • The China Pavilion of Expo 2020 Dubai officially opened on Oct.1 to welcome visitors from all over the world.  

  • The Expo 2020 Dubai is the first expo held since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic and the first expo held in the Middle East. Themed"Connecting Minds, Creating the Future," the Dubai Expo aims to pool the strength of the international community, promote global cooperation and create a better future.  

  • Due to the impact of COVID-19, the China Pavilion has actively explored an innovative mode combining visits both online and in person, and jointly launched an officialWeChatmini-program with Tencent, which can provide tourists worldwide with convenient and interesting intelligent visiting experience and allow them to savour the charm of China's science, technology and culture. Chinese visitors are able to visit the"Virtual China Pavilion" at home during the seven-day National Day holidaystartingfrom Oct. 1.  

  • Themed"Building aCommunity with a Shared Future for Mankind -- Innovation & Opportunity," the China Pavilion showcasesthe country's achievements in field including space exploration, information technology, modern transportation, artificial intelligence and smart life. It also presents China's vision and unremitting efforts to build a community with a shared future for mankind with countries around the world.  

  • A number of sci-tech enterprises, includingTencent, have participated in creating innovative and intelligent experience in the China Pavilion with a variety of technological and digital products. Through a series ofuse scenarios involvingsmart city, smart community, smart retailing andsmart medical care, this year's China Pavilion not only displays the"hard power" of China's science and technology, but also fullydemonstrates numerous digital applications in transforming people's lives.

  • First China Pavilion mini-program:Visiting China Pavilion at home

  • The"Freely visiting China Pavilion" is the first online pavilion that China adopts to exhibit itself through a mini-program at the World Expo. As the technology provider, Tencent hopes that themobile intelligent platform can give full play to WeChat mini-programs' advantagesinconvenience,interaction and sharing, and bring good online experience to people who visit the China Pavilion remotely.

The mini-program has both Chinese and English versions, and displays the wonderful China Pavilionthrough various forms such as graphics, texts, videos andlive streaming. Through themini-program, visitors can learn about China's lunar exploration project,high-speed railways and otherachievements. They canalsoexperienceChina's accomplishments in scientific and technological innovation through scenes such as smart city, smart life and smart ecology. 

Through the mini-program, users can watch China Pavilion theme movies, large-scale light shows, and learn aboutevents hosted byChina'sprovincialand municipal governments as well as enterprises. They can alsoshare their remote visits on WeChat Moments andcheer for China Pavilion's exhibitions.  

Themini-program offers opportunities for experiencing advanced technologies as well. The"interactive ink painting" activity supported by Tencent Media Lab, can generate an ink painting with a poem on it after users draw an outline with fingers on the cellphone, which provides the world with cutting-edge digital experience of traditional Chinese culture.

The China Pavilion has also cooperated with Weishi, Tencent'sshort video platform topresent a true, multi-dimensional, and panoramic view of China through live-streaming and short videos to its visitors.

Sci-tech innovation: Showing China's new digital intelligence life

The third exhibition section of the China Pavilion, named"Innovation and Cooperation," offers insights into a better life in the future from multiple dimensions of smart city, smart life and smart ecology.

The"SmartCity" part displaysvibrant future cities from the perspective of urban governance and decision-making, digital upgrade of all walks of life, and smart applicationsonmobile phones. As a co-organizer of the exhibition, Tencent Cloud's future city solution WeCity has been implemented in more than 10 cities of China including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, helping Chinese cities make steady progress in sustainable development.

By scanning aQR code, visitors can enter the"Smart Life" section. In this exhibition area, visitors will see that residents can park their cars smoothly throughlocation-based service (LBS)andcontactless payment technology; the integration of different data platforms makes it possible to make an appointment for a nucleic acid test through mobile phones; and the Tencent Instavue,an instant vision intelligent analysis system,informs management personnel timely whenan elderly fall alone. The virtual"smart retail machine" in this section shows the application of big data, blockchain, Internet of Things and other technologies. These scenes are familiar tothe Chinesepeoplebut fresh to foreign audiences.  

At present, as the global fight againstCOVID-19 pandemic continues, the China Pavilion also displays contents on"fight against the pandemic through science and technology," demonstrating the value of China's practices in solving global problems. For example, it shows that when thenovelcoronavirus hit Wuhan of China in early 2020, Tencent Miying, an AI-aided medical imaging anddiagnosis tool, could help make diagnoses in two seconds.   

At the same time, theTencent medical AI guidance and auxiliary diagnosis system in this section vividly explains how science and technology can comprehensively improve the diagnosis and treatmentof doctors in China's grassroots hospitals, thereby improving patients' experience in seeking medicalservices.  

Through various intelligent scenes, the China Pavilion of Dubai Expo presents to the world wonderful sci-tech enabled digital life of Chinese people and the achievements of China's digital development to enhance people's sense of gain, happiness and security.  

As an important partner in organizing the"online and offline"displayof the China Pavilion, Tencent said that its mission is to realize"Value for Users, Tech for Good" and constantly improve people's life quality through science and technology, which is highly consistent with the vision of the Expo and the theme of the China Pavilion.
